UK Cereals Usage by Millers Brewers & Maltsters - Review of September 2012
Brewers, maltsters and distillers total wheat and barley usage were both up by 14 per cent and 6 per cent respectively.Key Points of Wheat & Barley
In September 2012 compared with September 2011:
Wheat Usage:
- The total amount of wheat milled was 626 thousand tonnes, up 14%.
- The total amount of home grown wheat milled was 522 thousand tonnes, up 8%.
- The total amount of imported wheat milled was 104 thousand tonnes, up 58%.
- Brewers, maltsters and distillers total wheat usage was 53 thousand tonnes, up 3%.
Barley Usage:
- Brewers, maltsters and distillers total barley usage was 156 thousand tonnes, up 6%.
Key Points of Oats
In April to June 2012 compared with April to June 2011:
Oats Usage:
- The total amount of oats milled was 112 thousand tonnes, down 2%.
