USDA GAIN: Thailand Weekly Rice Price Update - 10 December 2012
TH 2129 – Parboiled rice prices further declined 2 to 3 percent from last week, while prices for white
and fragrant rice varieties remained unchanged. The Thai Government is conducting closed tenders for

Domestic and export prices for parboiled rice further declined around 2 to 3 percent from the previous week due to a lack of new inquiries. Meanwhile, prices for white and fragrant rice varieties remained unchanged from last week. The Thai Government is conducting closed tenders for fragrant rice exports of around 0.6 million metric tons. The bids will likely be finalized this week.
The MY2012/13 main-crop Paddy Pledging Program has preliminarily received pledges of around 3.8 million metric tons of rice paddies (roughly 2.5 million metric tons milled equivalent) from October 1 – November 29, 2012, of which around 1.0 million metric tons are fragrant rice paddy.
Rice Export Update
Unofficial rice exports (excluding fragrant rice) for November 26 – December 2, 2012 totaled 74,722 tons, down 9,264 metric tons from the previous week and down 31,787 metric tons from the four-week moving average of 106,509 metric tons. Exports of white and parboiled rice from January 1- December 2, 2012 totaled 4,667,860 tons, down 41.6 percent (7,990,466 tons) from last year.
According to the Department of Foreign trade, Ministry of Commerce, total rice exports (including fragrant rice) from January 1 – November 19, 2012 amounted to 6.17 million metric tons, down 35.0 percent from the same period last year.
