USDA GAIN: Thailand Weekly Rice Price Update - 12 February 2013
TH 3016 – Export prices declined slightly due to a lack of new inquiries. Domestic supplies of white
rice will likely ease as new-crop supplies will be coming onto the market in the next couple of weeks.Table 1: Export Prices (FOB) for Various Grades of Thai Rice (USD/MT), Week Ending Feb 5, 2013

Export prices declined slightly, particularly for white rice, due to a lack of new inquiries. Exporters also expect the tight domestic supplies of white rice to ease as millers in the central plain region are expected to sell their old-crop white rice stocks to create warehouse space for new-crop supplies that will be coming onto the market in the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile, the current MY2012/13 main-crop Paddy Pledging Program has received 9.3 million metric tons (6.1 million metric tons milled equivalent). The state-run Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) expects the program will likely receive total pledges of around 10 million metric tons (6.6 million metric tons milled equivalent) by the end of the program on February 28, 2013, about 44 percent larger than the previous year’s program.
