USDA Crop Production Report

USDA’s Crop Progress report shows the top 18 corn-growing states are now 88 per cent planted, climbing 15 percentage points from last week. This puts the planted corn on target with the 5-year average of 88 per cent planted and four per cent ahead of the same week last year. The three “I” states – Iowa (96 per cent), Indiana (87 per cent) and Illinois (95 per cent) – each made significant progress.

Corn emerged is at 60 per cent, leaping 26 percentage points higher versus last week. This is still under the 5-year average of 64 per cent emerged. Illinois saw strong progress at 81 per cent emerged; Indiana is at 68 per cent emerged and Iowa is just under at 67 per cent emerged.

Soybeans planted sits at 59 per cent, up 26 per cent versus last week and just over the 5-year average of 56 per cent planted.

Cotton planted jumped to 62 per cent, up 16 percentage points over last week and just under the 5-year average of 64 per cent planted.
