USDA Crop Production Report

USDA’s Crop Progress report shows the top 18 corn-growing states are now 95 per cent planted, climbing 7 percentage points from last week. This puts the planted corn a little ahead with the 5-year average of 94 per cent planted and 5 per cent ahead of the same week last year. The three “I” states – Iowa (99 per cent), Indiana (95 per cent) and Illinois (98 per cent) – each made significant progress.

Corn emerged is at 80 per cent, leaping 20 percentage points higher versus last week. This is  on target with the 5-year average of 80 per cent emerged. Illinois saw strong progress at 91 per cent emerged; Indiana is at 83 per cent emerged and Iowa is at 89 per cent emerged.

Soybeans planted sits at 78 per cent, up 19 per cent versus last week and just over the 5-year average of 70 per cent planted.

Cotton planted jumped to 74 per cent, up 12 percentage points over last week and just under the 5-year average of 81 per cent planted.
