USDA Cotton System Consumption and Stocks - 2 August 2015

May 2015 contained 31 days.
June 2015 contained 30 days.
July 2015 contained 31 days.
Extra long staple cotton consumed on the cotton system was 842 thousand pounds in July 2015, up 37 percent from June 2015 but down 2 percent from May 2015. July stocks on hand on the last Saturday of the month totaled 2.3 million pounds down 5 percent from June but up 30 percent from May.
Total Manmade fiber consumed on the cotton system was 38.5 million pounds during July 2015, up 10 percent from June 2015 and up 4 percent from May 2015. Of the total manmade fiber consumed, 87 percent was polyester staple.
Total number of spindles on the cotton system was 1.13 million during July 2015. Active spindles consuming 100 percent cotton was 598 thousand in July 2015, up 1 percent from June 2015 but down 1 percent from May 2015.
