According to the USDA, corn silking reached 71 per cent across 18 states this week, a 35 per cent increase on the 5-year average.Corn silking made it's way into the 90 per cent category in Illinois, North Caroline and Tennessee this week. This is a huge jump for Illinois, where the 5-year average stands at 53 per cent.
12 per cent of the overall corn crop has reached dough stage, far ahead of the four per cent 5-year average.
Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin are the only states with no corn at the dough stage yet.
Corn condition remains in a poor state this week, with only 27 per cent considered 'good' and only four per cent considered 'excellent' across 18 states.
Overall soybean blooming is at 66 per cent, a 24 per cent rise above the 5-year average. The soybean crop is setting pods in all states, except Michigan.
The majority of soybean conditions are considered 'fair' across 18 states, 30 per cent of the overall soybean crop is considered to be poor or very poor.
