While brewers, maltsters and distillers total wheat and barley usage were up, oats usage was down in July 2012.Key Points of Wheat & Barley
In July 2012 compared with July 2011:
Wheat Usage:
- The total amount of wheat milled was 495 thousand tonnes, up 2%.
- The total amount of home grown wheat milled was 440 thousand tonnes, up 3%.
- The total amount of imported wheat milled was 54 thousand tonnes, down 3%.
- Brewers, maltsters and distillers total wheat usage was 44 thousand tonnes, up 6%.
Barley Usage:
- Brewers, maltsters and distillers total barley usage was 142 thousand tonnes, up 4%.

In April to June 2012 compared with April to June 2011:

- The total amount of oats milled was 115 thousand tonnes, down 1%.
